The 2007 event was relocated to Hong Kong from Singapore with the ambition for it to become the pre-eminent commercial aerospace event globally.
Clive Richardson, senior vicepresident of Reed Exhibitions Aviation Group, the event organiser, said Hong Kong is uniquely placed to maintain the exhibition's regional strength, and provide a two-way channel for China's fastdeveloping aviation market.
"It's a world city, it's an important city in Asia, it's got fantastic infrastructure and a global and regional feel that is in keeping with how Asian Aerospace has grown and developed over the years," said Richardson.
The four-day trade event attracted 11,500 visitors who came to see the latest offerings from more than 500 exhibitors, including a dramatic flight demonstration of the Airbus A380 over Hong Kong’s famed skyline, as well as attend a number of conferences.
Allen Ha, chief executive officer of AsiaWorld-Expo said: “We are pleased to host the world’s largest dedicated civil aerospace event, Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress.
“Its success further consolidates AsiaWorld-Expo as a global trading platform.”
