I&I's Daniel takes on role with Lock, Third Person PR

Greg Daniel has taken equity and the role of non-executive chairman in two communications companies - youth and fashion marketing specialists The Lock Group and corporate communications firm Third Person.

Daniel was group deputy chairman of Clemenger BBDO Australia and New Zealand for a decade before co-founding Issues & Images, which was made up of seven communications companies, including ad agency Badjar and PR firm Cannings. He left I&I last October -- of which he owned 30 per cent -- and the majority of the group was sold to John Singleton's STW Group in a A$33 million (US$23 million) deal. Three former Cannings executives --Ross Thornton, Jim Kelly and Mark Gold-- established Third Person and each retain a 30 per cent share; Daniel has the remaining 10 per cent. Clients include Virgin Australia and Southcorp. The consultancy has just formed a non-financial strategic alliance with London firm Bell Pottinger to represent each other's clients in the UK and Australia respectively. Daniel was recently involved in Bell Pottinger's pitch for the London bid to host the 2012 Olympics. The consultancy was eliminated at the second stage, with Hill & Knowlton looking set to secure the account. sm
