IHT partner ThaiDay faces closure

According to a report in The Bangkok Post, ThaiDay - the International Herald Tribune's Thai distribution partner - is to shut down at the end of this month. <BR><BR> The news follows widely reported funding difficulties at the title, which is run by Manager Media Group - itself owned by Sondhi Limthongkul, a staunch critic of caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. ThaiDay has been distributed with the IHT since May 2005, and is held responsible for the latter's 30 per cent surge in Thailand circulation over the last 15 months. <BR><BR> The report stated that closure would only be "temporary", and that an online version is also being considered.
