IHG installs air divers for Okinawa launch

TOKYO - IHG ANA Hotels has suspended a pair of scuba divers in mid-air in central Tokyo as part of an initiative to announce the reopening of two of its Okinawan resorts.

The installation on the Sony Building in Ginza, one of the city’s main upscale shopping districts, sees the divers perform ballet-style moves against an underwater backdrop. The spectacle was conceived by McCann Erickson Japan and Enjin, with media duties handled by Universal McCann Japan, and is being staged several times on a daily basis over a period of four days.

The Okinawan facilities, the ANA InterContinental Ishigaki and the ANA InterContinental Manza Beach, are billed as the region’s first international luxury resorts. Members of the public are invited to consult concierges from the hotels for information on activities available at the resorts and on the islands.

IHG ANA operates a total of six InterContinental hotels in Japan.
