Jeju In the wake of a string of global congresses including the PATA Annual Conference 2004, the International Convention Centre (ICC) on Korea's Jeju Island is inviting bids for an onsite hotel partner The search will enable ICC Jeju to settle a construction debt, in addition to filling the ICC-owned 50,000sqm plot of land adjacent to the state-of-the-art convention facility, according to ICC Jeju spokesperson Eugene Craig Campbell. "The 50,000sqm lot adjoining ICC Jeju and potentially some of the margin between the convention centre and the lot, is available," he told CEI Asia Pacific. ICC Jeju had, he added, rebuffed an approach to build timeshare apartments on the site. "Our ideal would be a single owner dedicated to providing services for convention delegates." With local Jungmun Resort hoteliers charging premium room rates, Campbell flagged a reasonably-priced resort with shopping options. "ICC Jeju would like to create a convention complex with underground shopping connecting to the hotel."
