BSkyB managing director Elizabeth Murdoch and Nato spokesman Jamie
Shea have been confirmed as headline speakers at the forthcoming London
2000 Congress, organised by the International Advertising
Association.
Other speakers in the line-up are Playboy Enterprises chairman Christie
Hefner, WPP group chief executive Martin Sorrell, MIT Media Lab director
Professor Nicholas Negroponte, Pearson chief executive Marjorie Scardino
and Body Shop founder Anita Roddick.
More than 2,500 delegates are expected to attend the three-day
conference, which takes place at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference
Centre in London from June 6-9.
Chaired by Sir Dominic Cadbury, the congress will address the key themes
of creativity, technology, culture and ethics within the communications
industry.
Creativity in the emerging markets of Asia, the Middle East and Africa,
as well as how to win over an increasingly powerful gay market, will
also be covered.
"We want this to be the congress that people will (still) talk about in
five years' time," said London 2000 Congress programme director David
Abraham, also COO of St Lukes.
"This won't just be a congress, but a debate about the future of the
industry."
An exhibition will also run alongside the congress, divided into three
main sections: culture and ethics; creativity; and technology.
Due to an overwhelming response within the technology area, the size of
the exhibition has been expanded and limited space is still
available.
"We are honestly amazed at the amount of interest we have had from those
who want to exhibit at the congress," said London 2000 Congress
executive director Archie Pitcher.
"What also surprises us is the type of exhibition people want to
build.
They are truly creative and very exciting."
