Hsueh takes over So's ECD position at JWT in Beijing

J. Walter Thompson has appointed Jordan Hsueh as executive creative director, effective July 1.

He replaces Ellis So, who is leaving to set up his own creative shop, Bull Dog, which will offer creative, film production and post-production services to clients. JWT Beijing managing director Alec Cheng said: "Hsueh has six years of China experience. As he is Taiwanese, his language and cultural background are very similar to that of the mainland. I am confident that he can combine his Taiwan and China experiences to boost our creative standards." Hsueh was with McCann-Erickson Guangming Beijing as creative director for six years and McCann-Erickson Taiwan as creative director for four years. Cheng said: "We are planning to expand and build a specific creative team for our car brand client Ford, which will require about seven creative people to better serve the account." JWT Beijing has about 28 people in the creative department. The agency is aiming to increase staff numbers to 35 by the end of this year and is actively hiring new creative directors. Meanwhile, McCann-Erickson Beijing has hired Danny Chan and Ben Li to take over Hsueh's duties. sm
