HSBC Credit Card will take on established local players, as financial services companies look to persuade Vietnamese of the benefits of credit card ownership."
We have done extensive research to ensure our credit card meets the needs of the Vietnamese consumer," said Rose Leng, head of marketing, HSBC Vietnam. "Research from Nielsen has shown that almost 90 per cent of respondents were interested in applying for one."
The card will be launched with the support of a campaign by JWT and MindShare. A launch event will be held in Ho Chi Minh City tomorrow.
Leng added: "From a market perspective, Vietnamese are getting increasingly savvy, are traveling abroad more and pursuing global lifestyle trends.
"From a strategic perspective, the launch is a significant milestone for us, having recently received in-principle approval of our local incorporation in Vietnam. It is an important part of our plans to expand our customer base and our distribution network here," she said.
