HP regional breaks away from global PR review

SINGAPORE - HP's regional procurement division is believed to have broken away from the company's ongoing global PR review, with a view to assessing Asia-Pacific's needs independently.

HP began the review late last year, which was expected to shortlist three agencies for each of its business units. A 30-page RFP was sent to a large number of agencies, before the adoption of a convoluted ‘grading’ process intended to shortlist submissions.

At present, HP’s regional PR is split between Burson-Marsteller and Hill & Knowlton. After the pitch began, Edelman was awarded HP’s US personal systems group account, displacing incumbent Porter Novelli.
