Hong Kong Tourism Board names new director and deputy for leading roles

HONG KONG After a six-month search, Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has appointed Anthony Lau as its new executive director and Daisy Lam as deputy executive director.

Since both roles were vacated last winter, the business events industry has been left in the dark about the replacements.Lau is currently Philip Morris Singapore’s general manager. He joined Philip Morris Asia in 1986 and has held a range of senior management positions in such locations as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia.Lam is currently Octopus Card’s operations director. Before joining Octopus in2003, she worked for large international corporations such as Cathay Pacific andthe Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.HKTB chairman, James Tien, said Lau and Lam brought with them a wealth of experience.“I’m confident their knowledge of the local and international markets will ensureHKTB is in an even stronger position to market and promote Hong Kong worldwide, and to meet new challenges and opportunities amid the intensified competition inthe global tourism market.“They’ll lead the organisation to an even closer collaboration with travel-trade partners, and help strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a premier destination.”

Lau and Lam’s appointments will take effect from August 1 and September 1 respectively.
