HKJC holds annual dinner outdoors

The jockey club's guests converged on Murray House in Stanley for a night of dining and fun

THE BRIEF
The Hong Kong Jockey Club holds its gala dinner for the Hong Kong International Races annually at Murray House, Stanley. HKJC invites jockeys, horse owners and celebrities from all over the world. It aims to provide a great time for guests to relax and enjoy themselves. Different themes are created each year in order to keep the event fresh and attractive.

CHALLENGES
The major challenge was coordinating between the venue’s four different restaurants. Serving
times, venue set-up and decoration for each unique theme also needed to be well planned.
As the scheduled items in the programme were tight, there was no room for error.
The second challenge was the logistical problems. Arranging transportation for 1,200 people to and from the venue from different places needed to be on schedule.

EXECUTION
The different kinds of themes for each year are the highlights of the event. Theme such
as the Middle East and the Circus are followed by traditional food and games for the guests. For 2007, the theme was the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Guests were able to enjoy performances including live bands and dancing. Many booths also contained small games like football and darts.

Traditional dim sum was served during the cocktail function. Guests could choose their food according to their preference in each restaurant and enjoy the sea view from the terrace at Murray House.

VERDICT
HKJC regularly uses Murray House for its annual event because it is a great location in Hong Kong, featuring ocean views and a historical building.
The three King Parrot Group restaurants within the complex were able to provide high-quality cuisine for the guests to choose from. “The guests always look forward to this annual event for its great food under different themes every year,” says Anna Chau, CEO of King Parrot Group, which owns three restaurants in Murray House. “The food and service were perfectly arranged.”
