HK Tourism Board in hunt for new agency

HONG KONG - The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has begun searching for new agencies to handle its global advertising business, after eight-year incumbent DraftFCB resigned the account ahead of next year's tender.

While a HKTB representative noted that the search is at a preliminary stage, it is believed that the organisation is  gauging agency interest and assessing conflict issues.

DraftFCB Greater China chairman and CEO Gary Tse said the decision was driven by the new challenges that the HKTB faces under a new leadership team: “Maybe it makes more sense for a new agency to start again.”

Other sources pointed to falling spend and “demoralising” coverage of work in the local press. “This is a commercial decision,” an HKTB spokesperson said. “We are thankful for the valuable support from DraftFCB.”
