H&K Shanghai names Wu to lead marcomms practice

SHANGHAI: Hill & Knowlton Shanghai has appointed Bill Wu to the newly-created position of director of its marketing communications practice.

Wu will report to David Zhao, MD of Hill & Knowlton Shanghai.
“Marketing communications is not all about the consumer,” said Wu. “In China, brand-building requires more ‘harmony’ with the state than most places. The winning brand is the one weaving its value into the lives of Chinese people as well as society.”
Wu will head a six-strong marketing communications practice and new business development team with key accounts that include Durex, American Standards, and Scottish whisky brand Ballantine’s, among others. He joins from Weber Shandwick, where he was associate director.
