HK airport moves into multimedia ad panel space

Hong Kong International Airport is taking an unusual approach to drum up interest for its soon-to-launch multimedia advertising wall panels at SkyPlaza, creating a design competition for advertising agencies and their clients.

Expected to be available to advertisers from SkyPlaza's September opening, the space features two 60x6 metre wall panels running alongside the entrance to SkyPlaza, incorporating plasma and LCD displays, LED lighting and light boxes. A series of four multimedia, 20x6 and 13x6 metre panels will also be available on the main concourse. "Because the SkyPlaza is a new terminal for the HKIA, we are positioning it as an upbeat, dynamic shopping centre," said Christina Cheng, HKIA assistant GM, marketing and business development, retail and advertising. The winner of the multimedia panel competition will win free ad space.
