HK advertising market sees strong growth in January

HONG KONG - Total adspend in January in Hong Kong reached HK$1.93 billion (US$247 million), compared to $1.55 billion in January 2007, representing a year-on-year increase of almost one quarter.

The growth was led by advertisers in the banking, pharmaceutical and food industries. All of the top 10 highest spending industries demonstrated an increase of at least 20 per cent increase over the previous year.

For the Chinese New Year period, spend jumped from HK$360 million to HK$447 million. Internet adspend, meanwhile, rose by more than double, reaching HK$68 millions in January 2008.
