Heartland beats Posterscope for Coke China

Coca-Cola has handed outdoor media duties in China to specialist shop Heartland, following a final stage shootout between Heartland and Posterscope (Media, March 10).

Heartland had worked on the business with Coke's China AOR, Starcom, but will now work on the brief exclusively for an initial one year. Coke confirmed the appointment but declined to disclose further details. The business is thought to include all elements of out-of-home advertising nationwide. Starcom, which continues to oversee Coke's other media requirements in China, had been involved in an earlier stage of the pitch as part of a new outdoor tie-up with sister media agency, ZenithOptimedia. WPP's Portland unit also took part in the review. The win marks the second MNC account Heartland has won after bagging Nokia China's outdoor business last year. The business will remain with Heartland even though Nokia is moving the rest of its China media business to MediaCom after a recent regional pitch, which covered all media channels.
