Ogilvy & Mather has dropped its plan to boycott this year's Cannes Advertising Festival after it expressed satisfaction that the judging would be fair and open. Following what it termed "extensive

talks with Cannes jury president, Jeff Goodby, O&M worldwide creative director Neil French said: "We are now totally convinced that the jury this year will have strong instruction to concentrate solely on judging the work that has been entered.

The turnaround came days after Goodby, CD of San Francisco agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners, assured O&M that he would ignore a list of alleged scam ads written up by the previous chairman, Bob Isherwood, Saatchi & Saatchi worldwide creative director.
