Godrej, a major manufacturer of FMCG products, has consolidated its
media planning and buying functions with Mumbai-based Madison
Advertising.
Agencies that will take a hit because of this move - which followed
Coca- Cola's lead last year - are Ambience D'Arcy, Hindustan Thompson
(JWT) and Bates.
Godrej was advised by Anderson Consulting, which conducted the
evaluation and final selection.
Madison, which lost its fickle partner DMB&B in 1999 but was voted the
fourth most admired agency by corporates in India this year, went
head-to-head with heavyweights Leo Burnett's Starcom and Mudra for the
Godrej Sara Lee, Godrej Soaps, and Godrej Foods accounts.
