Budweiser and its Philippine bottler and distributor, Asia Brewery, are renegotiating terms of their five-year contract amid rumours the American beer brewery might be pulling out of the Philippines. Flat sales growth in line with a general slowdown in consumer spending is fuelling speculation that Anheuser-Busch might retreat from the country. Its current position is in stark contrast to the late 1990s when Budweiser was among the best-selling beer brands in the country.
