Havas Media appoints China CEO

SHANGHAI - Havas Media has named former Carat China CEO Thomas Wong (pictured) as its CEO in Greater China, replacing Paul McNeill who will leave the agency at the end of the month to "pursue his interests in studying international policy", according to a statement.

From his base in Shanghai, Wong is charged with overseeing all aspects of the agency’s business operations and development in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He will report to Vishnu Mohan, CEO of Havas Media Asia-Pacific, the parent group of MPG.

Wong joins the agency after a 25-year career spanning a range of roles at consumer, advertising and media companies. Prior to his time at Carat China, he worked at agencies including McCann Erickson and Y&R.

"We have always been committed to driving our business forward in this area, with top managers who have demonstrated excellent levels of local understanding, coupled with a global appreciation and commitment to knowledge and market intelligence,” Alfonso Rodés, global CEO of Havas Media, said in a release. “Thomas will be a valued and key member of our team as we continue to invest in this region."
