Guangtang to focus on consulting offer

SHANGHAI - Guangtang Advertising, one of China's more successful local agencies, has refuted suggestions that it has closed down following the loss of a major part of key client Uni-President.

Guangtang GM Cathy Wu pointed out that the agency had closed its Beijing office, but maintains an office in Shanghai. Previously housing a 40-strong office, the operation is now made up of eight people, focusing on research and marketing consultancy.

Wu added that Guangtang retained media and PR for Uni-President’s orange juice business, after losing the advertising account. The agency also handles consulting for snack brand Qia Qia, which shifted creative to McCann Erickson earlier this, and also handles brand consulting for LoLo, which currently splits creative duties between Ogilvy and Euro RSCG.
