Grueber denies Jetstar's merger to blame for exit

Jetstar Asia head of marketing Dorit Grueber has put her decision to leave down to timing, noting that during her 18-month tenure, she successfully built the low-cost airline's brand from scratch.

Speaking to Media to confirm her departure (Media online, December 6), Grueber also added that the exit of Jetstar CEO Ken Ryan provided an ideal opportunity to leave. Ryan, who stepped down in early December after just eight months in charge, was the fourth person to occupy the CEO role in barely a year. He is replaced by acting CEO Neil Thompson, with a permanent replacement due in 2006. Grueber denied her decision was triggered by the July consolidation with fellow budget carrier Valuair. She said she was still considering her options, and would work as a freelance consultant for the foreseeable future.
