Grubbs moves to HK for eBay push

Ebay has transferred Benjamin Grubbs from Singapore to Hong Kong, signalling the start of a major marketing push in the city.

Grubbs, who had managed Hong Kong as marketing manager for Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, will lead a new, five-strong marketing team that will oversee internet marketing, merchandising and PR as marketing priorities broaden from member acquisition to include member activation and developing products and services. "We've acquired a substantial number of people to our community, buyers and sellers, so we are moving on to the next stage," Grubbs said. Grubb's Southeast Asia duties have passed to Sam McDonagh, a former category manager for eBay in the US who moved to Singapore at the end of last year. Ebay has already started recruiting the Hong Kong team, hiring Susanna Muk on PR andAnnie Ip on merchandising.
