GroupM Philippines hires ex-actor as digital consultant

MANILA - GroupM has hired ex-actor, product developer and graphic designer Ricky Baizas (pictured) as a digital consultant to all of GroupM's agency brands in the Philippines.

Baizas takes on a newly created role to encourage digital thinking within MEC, MediaCom, Maxus and the group's dominant brand MindShare.

Baizas approached GroupM after reading a piece in Fortune magazine on GroupM CEO Irwin Gottlieb.

“The article called him the ‘$59 billion man’ and the real king of advertising. I instantly thought, ‘I want to be this guy,’” he said. "One Google search and a flurry of e-mails after, I was face to face with GroupM Philippines CEO, Mitos Borromeo. I knew right away that I wanted to work for her."

Borromeo noted: "We're very pleased to have Ricky find us. The kind of digital talent we are searching for in the Philippines is not that abundant, so it was a pleasant surprise to get an email from him."
