DAY 1
Morning tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City
Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world and a gathering place for locals
and visitors alike. On the north side is Tiananmen Gate, the site of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Directly behind the gate, the Forbidden City was home to 24 emperors. Behind walls about eight metres high and within a protective moat, complex rules and rituals dictated life in the Imperial Palace.

Lunch at Nuage
This elegant restaurant, whose name is a French word meaning ‘clouds’, serves up Vietnamese cuisine with lake views.
Afternoon hutong tour including tea with a Beijing family
Guests will be ferried on three-wheeled pedicabs through the network of alleys between Beijing’s traditional courtyard houses, called hutongs. Groups can visit a local family who will answer questions about their neighbourhood and unique home.

Dinner at Da Tong Roast Duck restaurant
Beijing Duck needs no introduction. Staff at the restaurant will demonstrate the right
way to sample this Beijing classic.
DAY 2
Day-time tour to Great Wall and Ming Tombs
On this full-day tour to the Great Wall view the first sections that were built as early as the fifth century BC, to keep out the northern ‘barbarians’. Qinshihuang, who reigned from 221 BC had more than 300,000 men working for ten years to link up the various sections so that they formed one great barrier.

DAY 3
Morning tour of the Summer Palace
This former royal garden was enlarged and embellished by Emperor Qianglong in the 18th century. It was later abandoned but Empress Dowager Cixi infamously began rebuilding it in 1888 using money that was supposedly reserved to build a modern navy.

Lunch at Baijiadazhaimen
This restaurant in Beijing’s northwest was originally part of the imperial route to the
Summer Palace. It serves imperial cuisine in the tranquil Garden of Prince Li.
Afternoon tour to Temple of Heaven and Pearl market
The Temple of Heaven is a sequence of temples and altars set in a park. The emperor led processions of some 1,000 eunuchs, courtiers and ministers from the Forbidden City to the park twice a year to make prayers for good harvests.
