Grey Japan's CEO to return to academia

TOKYO - Chris Beaumont is to depart his position as president and CEO of Grey Group Japan after five years with the agency.

Beaumont, who was also regional chief strategy officer, is to return to the academic world as professor at Tokyo University. He began his career with a 10-year stint at the London Business School.

The agency has named current MD Yumi Shibuya (pictured) to succeed Beaumont. Shibuya joined Grey Japan in 1993 as account director and climbed the ranks at the agency.

“Yumi is passionate about clients, brands and people, and has consistently provided ‘best in class’ leadership for our biggest accounts,” said Grey Group regional chairman and CEO Mike Amour.

“Her career progression is significant and illustrates that Grey Group can and will nurture an individual’s career aspirations,” he added.
