Grey Group Japan appoints new chief creative officer

TOKYO - Founder and former creative head of independent agency Propeller, Yohei Irie, has joined Grey Group Japan as chief creative officer. He starts work immediately and will report to Yumi Shibuya, president and CEO, Grey Group Japan.

It is understood that Irie closed down Propeller to join Grey. 

Prior to founding Propeller, Irie spent 24 years with McCann Erickson, where he rose from art director to creative director. He has worked on local and global accounts including Nestlé Japan, Japan Coca-Cola, Microsoft, IBM and Asahi Beer. 

Over the years, his work has been recognised by awards shows such as Cannes, Nikkei Advertising Awards and the New York Festivals. 
 
Expressing her delight at Irie's appointment, Shibuya added that talent is not just something "nice" to have but an "essential ingredient for continued success".
