Greater China: Imagination eyes Asia with Events 360 acquisition

HONG KONG: The Imagination Group's acquisition of Events 360 marks the start of the European communications group's Asian expansion, according to managing director Paul Mackay.

Imagination is best known for its exhibition design work, but has broadened its offering in recent times to include strategic communications solutions.

According to Mackay, the Hong Kong acquisition is merely the beginning of its Asian footprint. "This is a demonstration of Imagination's desire to quickly establish ourselves in the region," said Mackay. "We're buying some talented and energetic people."

While Imagination has had, in Mackay's words, a "tiny presence" for almost four years, he points out that the group's first-ever acquisition of another agency reflects its ongoing commitment to the region. "We'll be broadening our service offering," added Mackay.

According to Geraldine Walsh, director at Events 360, the acquisition was necessary for the events agency to "take the next big step".

"The acquisition provides us with access to one of the world's most creative and media-neutral experiential marketing companies," said Walsh. "It is also an ideal opportunity for our team to grow and develop internationally with more involvement in larger scale global projects."
