Grazia to launch in Australia, mainland

ASIA-PACIFIC - Upmarket women's glossy Grazia is pursuing an aggressive localisation strategy in Asia-Pacific this year, with domestic versions planned for Australia and China, following its India launch last month.

The Australian version will be published as a joint venture between ACP Magazines and the Hearst Corporation, under license from Grazia’s owner Mondadori.

The first issue is set to hit the market in spring.

In China, the magazine will run as a bi-weekly, competing against monthlies, such as Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and Cosmo; and weekly titles that include OK, Modern Weekly and Fashion Weekly. It is expected that the domestic publisher will be Seec Media.

It is believed that Grazia China will target affluent 20 to 35 year-old Chinese women across 23 cities.

The title will reinforce competition in a category that is becoming increasingly cluttered.
