Grayling merges as chief returns to the UK

GLOBAL - After nine years, Grayling Asia MD James Acheson-Gray will depart his position to become MD of Grayling UK, as part of the agency's merger with sister Huntsworth agency Global Consulting Group (GCG).

He is replaced by Chris Davies, currently MD of Grayling UK. The merger of Grayling and GCG will see the formation of an agency with combined revenues US$35 million, and a network of more than 200 staff working across 17 offices, globally. It will be led by Nigel Kennedy, currently group CEO of Grayling.

Lord Chadlington, the chief executive of Huntsworth, will chair the board of Grayling Global.

Richard J Wolff, the founding chief executive of GCG, and Alison Clarke, group business development director at Huntsworth, are both appointed as vice-chairman.

“It is a very neat fit,” said Kennedy. “GCG has a very strong presence in the USA, while Grayling is a major player in Europe and Asia. Grayling Global will have bases in key markets around the world.”

While Grayling is better know for its consumer, public affairs and event management, GCG has forged a strong reputation in the US, around investor relations, corporate communications and public affairs.

During his tenure in Asia, Acheson-Gray has overseen the growth of Grayling into three offices: Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok, and has consolidated key regional account relationships with Diageo and British Airways.
