Winter will officially begin duties as GCT CEO in June, joining the organisation after almost eight years at Adelaide Tourism Convention Authority as CEO.
Winter said: “I am truly excited about the opportunity to come to the Gold Coast.
“It is undeniably Australia’s best destination and this is evident in its history and its future.
“As a tourism city it commands the utmost respect at a national and international level.
“I have been drawn to the position of Gold Coast Tourism CEO by the variety of the destination proposition, the quality of the tourism industry and the city’s potential for even greater future growth.”
GCT chairman, Paul Donovan said: “The appointment of Martin Winter as GCT CEO is an outstanding result for the city.
“The business experience and acumen that Martin brings from Europe, the Americas,
Asia and Australia is exceptional.
“I am really excited about the future of our city as its most expansive industry continues to deliver social and economic results for the city.”
Acting CEO David Ronai will remain at the helm of GCT until Winter comes on board.
Media and industry figures will be invited to welcome Winter to the Gold Coast at a special GCT event.
Winter replaces former GCT head, Pavan Bhatia, who resigned from the organisation last December to spend more time with his family.
