Gold Coast hosts 'Welcome By The Sea' party

Gold Coast Tourism wanted a welcome party for the Gold Coast event that contained a significant 'wow' factor and incorporated cutting-edge technology. It was critical that the event showcased the natural assets of the Gold Coast and also introduced it as a premium business tourism destination.

ChallengesSquareOne Events obtained special permits from council and local authorities for access to a beachside site and the erection of a dome-style pavilion on the sandat Broadbeach. Such a unique setting in a public location required the consideration and management of major logistical issues such as safety, security, weather contingencies, guest access and environmental safeguards, to name a few. These challenges were effectively managed via liaison with multiple departments of

Gold Coast City Council, Broadbeach Marketing and the Dome Pavilion.

ExecutionThe ‘Very GC, Very Chic’ theme flowed through all aspects of the function – from venue, food presentation, décor, staff presentation and entertainment. The dome-style pavilion had not been previously erected in this format in any location in Australia and provided instant visual impact due to its size, shape, colour and location overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Broadbeach. The interior was carpeted and air-conditioned for guest comfort, and featured clear walls along the beachside to maximise the ocean and coastal views.

Entertainment was provided by a five-piece swing band and dancers who undertook roles as Gold Coast Beach Girl, Adventure Girl and Business Tourism Executives, highlighting the mix of business and leisure that the Gold Coast offers.

Verdict“The VeryGC Welcome by the Sea function was a suitable opening ceremony for the Gold Coast’s most pioneering business event,” says Gold Coast Tourism CEO Pavan Bhatia. “The function was well executed by Square One Events, an excellent

demonstration of the high level of professional support services available on the Gold Coast.”
