GM India calls for pitch as McCann contract runs out

General Motors India has called a pitch for its media business, as Universal McCann's three-year contract is due to run out in July.

According to Amit Dutta, vice-president, marketing, GM India, the pitch is a procedure followed by General Motors worldwide. "The contract runs for three years and, upon its expiry, a fresh pitch is called for," he said. Dutta declined to name the pitching agencies or the size of the brief. He said the final decision would be made by September. Universal presently handles the media business, while creative for Chevrolet and Corsa is handled by Enterprise Nexus. The media account review coincides with the promotion of chief operating officer Rajeev Chaba to the post of president and MD of General Motors India. He will take over from Aditya Vij, who will be moving to Europe to handle General Motors businesses on the continent.
