GM charges Starcom IP with regional digital marketing

HONG KONG - General Motors Asia Pacific has handed Starcom IP its regional digital marketing brief, charging the agency with developing digital insights, strategy, marketing programmes and metrics.

The appointment will see Starcom IP set up a team to service the business in various Asia-Pacific markets, under the oversight of a new senior hire, expected to be announced shortly.

“These are exciting times as more and more Asian automotive shoppers are going digital at key points in their search and decision process,” said Starcom IP Asia GM Pushkar Sane, who was recently handed regional leadership duties.

“While the Internet is important in all markets in Asia, mobile, gaming and broadband are emerging as powerful avenues in several markets, as consumers, both young and mature, embrace technology with unprecedented eagerness.”

Starcom is currently GM’s media AOR in the US, an account that includes interactive duties.

However, in Asia, the media buying and planning business is split between a number of agencies according to local market alignments.
