Gillette China shifts tactical planning to Starcom

GUANGZHOU - Starcom Guangzhou has taken over the Gillette tactical planning business from MediaCom without a pitch, effective from January 2009.

The move is described as a non-revenue transfer of responsibility agreed between the agencies and the client, according to a source close to the client. The shift also includes Taiwan and Hong Kong.

MediaCom has been handling Gillette’s China account for more than two years, since P&G acquired Gillette.

The move follows P&G’s decision to hand communications planning for three personal care brands to MediaCom.

The Oral-B planning assignment for China moved from MediaCom to Starcom earlier this year.
