HONG KONG: Getty Images is looking to boost the Asia-Pacific

content of its photographic and film visuals library, now available

online.

The company has more than 70 million images and 30,000 hours of film,

however, Getty co-founder and chief executive Jonathan Klein said Asian

content is lacking.

"The criticism has always been that the pictures are too American. So we

are embarking on working to get more locally-shot imagery," said

Klein.

One way it hopes to achieve its objective is through the recent set up

of wholly-owned organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong,

Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Japan following the acquisition

of its two main competitors, The Image Bank and the Visual

Communications Group.
