Gavin Anderson taps new MDs to run Asia-US flow

After poaching Edelman's US finance team, Gavin Anderson's (GA) New York office is training its sights on Asia in a bid to respond to client activity in the region.

The trio -- Richard Mahony, Bill McBride and Doug Donsky -- have joined as managing directors, with part of their remit to serve the two-way flow of business between the US and Asia-Pacific. "Our industry, on the financial side, tends to lag the banks by three to five years, and the investment banks have been making greater forays into China, so we see these kinds of large cross-border, mission-critical ploys," said GA chief executive officer Richard Constant. In particular, he believes that Chinese companies will be tapping the US markets on an increasing basis. "They want to make sure their shareholder base matches their global aspirations," he said. GA has handled high-profile assignments for Anheuser-Busch and UFJ in Asia over the past years.
