Garwood signs up with Starbucks
Starbucks Asia-Pacific has appointed Dairy Farm's Mark Garwood as its new regional vice-president of operations as the chain embarks on an aggressive expansion drive in Asia.

Garwood, who remains marketing and development director of The Dairy Farm Company in Hong Kong until January, will report to Starbucks Asia-Pacific president Christine Day, tasked with operational management of more than 1,650 outlets across nine markets regionally. "It's a slight departure from my current role, but I am the master of understatement," Garwood said, although he was quick to point out a significant part of his new job would involve close collaboration with the marketing division.

Part of his remit will involve driving the chain's aggressive expansion plan across the region, beginning with India, as part of Starbucks' recently announced long-term plan to have more than 10,000 outlets in Asia-Pacific.
