GameOn Japan picked Grey Group in Tokyo following a five-way pitch, with no incumbent agency.
Grey will work with brand activation unit G2 to manage online and offline media strategy planning for GameOn. The agencies are also charged with website and content development for Gameonlive.jp, as well as events.
“GameOn operates in a very exciting space which generates huge buzz and is highly popular with the youth across the country,” said Yumi Shibuya (pictured), president and CEO of Grey Group Japan.
GameOn provides software licensing services to internet cafes, merchandising rights and online game portals in Japan. Major game titles include Tenjouhi, Cronous, Mu, Red Stone, Silkroad Online, RF Online Z, Soul of the ultimate nation, EA Sports FIFA Online 2, Alliance of Valiant Arms, Gunzwei and Prius Online.
GameOn joins the likes of Procter & Gamble, GlaxoSmithKline, Diesel, Godiva Japan, Nike, and Cadbury Japan on Grey Group Japan's client roster.
