Just because they could – appBlaster iPhone gun
AR games have been around for a while now and the child-like allure of digital objects super-imposed on the real world may have diminished. Apptoyz would like to rekindle your AR excitement with the appropriately named appBlaster iDevice gun accessory, which (when combined with the Alien Attack iOS game) will have you blasting away at the slimy critters with an honest-to-goodness physical trigger.

Nokia’s first Windows phone spotted in the wild
Any self-respecting gadgeteer worth their weight in smartphones will have been eagerly anticipating the merest shred of information surrounding the Finn’s first foray in to Windows Phone 7 country – and now, (thanks to Nokia’s CEO) the interwebs have been blessed with leaked footage of the Mango-running device.

Archos introduces a pair of capacious Honeycomb tablets
Archos has revealed a pair of Android Honeycomb-rocking tablets which are both crammed with 250GB hard drives, resulting in much more memory than your average slate. We’d expect the exclusion of flash memory to create a bit of chunkiness in the design department, but we’d gladly trade shallow looks for the copious amount of space on offer.

ASUS U36 ultra thin laptop lands
The ASUS U36, like Kate Moss, is barely visible when looked at from side-on. Despite being a paper-cutting 19mm thin it can pack in loads – less like Kate Moss. Not only does the 13.3in U36 contain an i5 Core with NVIDIA graphics and 500GB storage, but is made to repel finger marks and dirt. All this and it’ll keep going for 11 hours. Can Kate boast that? It’s cheaper than her too at £700 from Micro Anvika.
Rumour mill – Amazon tablet due August
Yes we told you about an Amazon colour tablet already. But since then, Amazon’s head honcho Jeff Beazley has confirmed it’s in the making. Now Taiwan component makers are leaking all sorts of tasty titbits, including an August to September release date. They expect a Texas Instruments processor, Wintek touchscreen, ILI Tech LCD, and Quanta Computer will assemble it all with monthly shipments of around 750,000 of the, hopefully as-affordable-as-Kindle devices. Now, what to do with all those leftover Kindles?
First 7in Android 3.2 tablet from Huawei
If ever time travelling cyborgs were to be invented, it would be in Singapore. Slightly less dramatic but no less exciting is Singapore’s Huawei who has just unveiled a new 7in tablet. It will feature – deep breath – a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 217ppi 1080p capacitive touchscreen, 5MP camera, 3G, Flash 10.3 support, 8GB onboard memory with microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, HDMI-out, and Android Honeycomb 3.2 – breath out. It looks pretty too. No word on RAM or a UK price and release date yet but we will be keeping a close eye on this one, in the future.
LG Optimus 3D out July 7
The LG Optimus 3D – the world’s first glasses-free 3D mobile phone – is arriving early at Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy on 7 July. Despite sporting a dual-core 1GHz processor, 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D screen and camera, plus the ability to capture Full HD 3D videos, it's debatable whether the £35/month contract will be attractive enough while 3D content is still sparse.
Machjet LPP6010N – World’s fastest printer
Printing, like washing up or getting dressed, is a means to an end and rarely exciting in itself – until now. The Machjet LPP6010N – which even sounds fast – is the brainchild of LG and print specialists Memjet. The Flash of printers produces 60 pages per minute (yes, one per second) and at half the cost of traditional office colour printers. It achieves this 1600x800dpi feat using 70,000 ink nozzles that somehow only use 32W of power, compared to an average 600W on soon-to-obsolete current printers. No price or release date yet but watch this space.
