G.O.D prepares colour-conscious ad

HONG KONG - G.O.D is using the cliché 'Black is the new white' as the tagline for a new print ad, promoting its bowl collection.

The ad will run on Thursday, in order to benefit from Barack Obama’s expected US presidential win.

The creative visual depicts a set of black rice bowls, dishes, chopsticks and a spoon, with the tagline.

“Chinese people usually prefer white or light-coloured ceremic rice bowls,” said Douglas Young, founder & CEO of G.O.D, who came up with the creative idea. “The new black bowl collection is an alternative choice for trend-conscious G.O.D customers.”

Young points out that the tagline also coincides with the recent crowning of British driver Lewis Hamilton as Formula One champion. “We like to be provocative,” said Young. “Our campaigns like to be more cutting edge than just a pretty picture.”
