FT unveils online video player

HONG KONG - The Financial Times has introduced a revamped video player as it increases the amount of online video available on its site.

The FT Mini Player allows videos to be embedded in news and feature articles. The newspaper believes this will create new opportunities for contextual advertising.

“We are sure that the player will prove popular to both users and advertisers, increasing the site’s video audience and the amount of time spent on the site by each visitor,” said Rob Grimshaw, managing director of FT.com.

The site claims to upload 150 videos a month, gaining more than one million video views. Brands that have advertised around the FT’s online video include IBM, Bulgari and DHL.
