Friendster extends text alerts to Singapore

SINGAPORE - Social networking site Friendster has launched a text alert service for Singaporean users that notifies them of events such as messages, comments and bulletin posts from friends.

The Text Alerts service, which was recently launched in Malaysia and Indonesia, is Friendster's second mobile offering after its mobile site, m.friendster.com, which launched in May.

Text Alerts is similar to services already provided by social networks including Facebook and LinkedIn.

According to Friendster, the network has more than 1.6 million registered users in Singapore, approximately 60 per cent of the country’s internet users.
