Independent 4As agency Freeway Communications has snatched one of
the biggest telecom accounts in Hong Kong, One2Free, from incumbent
J.Walter Thompson.
McCann-Erickson Guangming and DDB were also involved in the pitch for
the multi-million dollar account last month.
Freeway Communications managing director Desmond So attributed the win
to "one big team effort".
JWT has held the account for some years now but the loss coincides with
the departure of several key staff in the past six months. They include
Mr Conrad Chiu who quit as JWT managing director for Hong Kong and South
China to head-up e-MPI before becoming the chief executive of sister
company Market Catalyst.
More recently, Ms Christine Pong resigned as the agency's head of
creative in Hong Kong to become the chief creative officer at Market
Catalyst.
