Fox claims GE top spot in Singapore, Nat Geo Wild tops factual in Malaysia

SINGAPORE/MALAYSIA - Fox International Channels (FIC) saw strong momentum throughout the Southeast Asia region in December 2010, with Fox claiming the top spot amongst general entertainment (GE) cable channels in Singapore and Nat Geo Wild topping factual in Malaysia.

FIC says Fox first topped the GE slot in August 2010, six months after its launch in Singapore. The company said Nat Geo Wild maintains its number one factual channel ranking in Malaysia—which it has held since its launch in August 2010.

Both channels’ popularity is attributed to FIC’s commitment to providing audiences throughout the region with programming that fits local audiences’ viewing requirements, according to Avi Himatsinghani, senior vice-president, general manager for Southeast Asia at Fox International Channels.

“Our aggressive initiatives to acquire premium US content, as well as to produce and deliver locally-relevant content with our production partners, such as the recent award-winning documentary ‘Among the Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh’, create ideal content to establish strong bonds with consumer audiences in different markets,” he added.
