Four agencies on shortlist as Myer Grace reopens review

SYDNEY: Four agencies are believed to have been shortlisted for the latest review of the estimated US$55 million million Myer Grace Bros business.

Myer Grace Bros is part of the Coles Myer group, Australia's second-largest advertiser behind the Federal Government. The review is an extension of an initial process that began earlier this year. At the time two agencies-incumbent George Patterson Bates Melbourne and Whybin TBWA - were understood to have made it to the last draw.

However, the contest was reopened at the insistence of Myer Grace Bros new managing director Dawn Robertson who was appointed in May.

Robertson moved from New York where she spent the last 20 years working across American department stores including Bloomingdales.

Myer Grace Bros sent letters to 10 agencies earlier this month, inviting them to pitch in this second account review.

The list of selected agencies is understood to have included Clemenger BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi, The Campaign Palace and the original contestants. It is understood this list has since been whittled down to four. Bates and Whybin are believed to be in this final cut. Coles Myer's The Officeworks account remains under review with the shortlist believed to include incumbent Y&R Mattingly, Leo Burnett and Badjar.
