The 2nd ESPN STAR Sports Media Bowling Competition 2000, held in
conjunction with the Singapore leg of the Asian Bowling Tour 2000, took
place at the Cathay Bowl in Singapore on August 11.
With more than 70 budding bowlers from the ad industry and client side,
competition was intense and spirits were high ... and rising by the
minute!
Beer consumption reached new highs and subsequently some participants
were caught aiming for the gutter instead of the pins.
After three hours of intense competition (not!) trying to knock pins
down, Times Publishing Group emerged as the champion in the Group
Category, beating CGU Insurance (the First Runner-up) and Impiric (the
Second Runner-up, who incidentally, were the First Runner-up in our
inaugural event) for the prize money, trophies and goodie bags.
In the Individual Category, representatives from Times Publishing Group
clinched all available honours! Team leader, Ramlee Sutan Muda was
champion and team mates David Long and Rahmat Yusoff were the First and
Second Runners-up respectively.
Special awards were also presented to both the Gutter King and Queen,
the Best Group Spirit-in-Action, the Best Bowling Form and the Most
Excitable Bowler. In short, everyone had a ball; no pun intended.
After Singapore, the Asian Bowling Tour moves on to Thailand, Korea and
Hong Kong before finishing off in Manila early next year.
Keep a look-out for more bowling action coming your way.
