FOCUS - REGIONAL PUBLICATIONS: Business Week ups ratebase

<p>Business Week is raising its ratebase by about seven per cent to </p><p>75,000 copies from next year. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The move followed strong circulation gains this year. According to the </p><p>Audit Bureau of Circulation, the magazine's circulation growth of nine </p><p>per cent in the first half of 2000 was better than its direct </p><p>competitors, with Hong Kong and Singapore fueling the rise with </p><p>increases of 15 and six per cent respectively. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Its circulation currently stands just shy of the 75,000 level. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Strong results were also reported by its Chinese-language edition </p><p>Business Week China, which posted a circulation of 73,000 in this year's </p><p>first half. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>That compared favourably with its 2000 ratebase of 68,000. As a result </p><p>of the improved performance, the China edition's ratebase will also be </p><p>raised by about seven per cent from next year to 73,000. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Business Week Asia vice-president and managing director Mr Alan Lammin </p><p>said, "The momentum continues and this solid performance reflects </p><p>Business Week's continuing commitment and investment to the Asia-Pacific </p><p>region in every department: circulation, editorial and marketing." </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Meanwhile, Ms Emma Fung has been promoted to the position of marketing </p><p>director for Asia. She effectively replaces Justine Moss, who recently </p><p>left the magazine to become the business development director at </p><p>XS-Media. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>She joined Business Week in 1998 as business development manager. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Business Week has also appointed Ms Fiona Dance as research and account </p><p>services manager for Asia-Pacific. She was most recently with Dow Jones </p><p>International in London as research and marketing executive. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
