Business Week is raising its ratebase by about seven per cent to

75,000 copies from next year.

The move followed strong circulation gains this year. According to the

Audit Bureau of Circulation, the magazine's circulation growth of nine

per cent in the first half of 2000 was better than its direct

competitors, with Hong Kong and Singapore fueling the rise with

increases of 15 and six per cent respectively.

Its circulation currently stands just shy of the 75,000 level.

Strong results were also reported by its Chinese-language edition

Business Week China, which posted a circulation of 73,000 in this year's

first half.

That compared favourably with its 2000 ratebase of 68,000. As a result

of the improved performance, the China edition's ratebase will also be

raised by about seven per cent from next year to 73,000.

Business Week Asia vice-president and managing director Mr Alan Lammin

said, "The momentum continues and this solid performance reflects

Business Week's continuing commitment and investment to the Asia-Pacific

region in every department: circulation, editorial and marketing."

Meanwhile, Ms Emma Fung has been promoted to the position of marketing

director for Asia. She effectively replaces Justine Moss, who recently

left the magazine to become the business development director at

XS-Media.

She joined Business Week in 1998 as business development manager.

Business Week has also appointed Ms Fiona Dance as research and account

services manager for Asia-Pacific. She was most recently with Dow Jones

International in London as research and marketing executive.
