FOCUS: ESPN Star Sports media grand slam - Singapore. Ad trade bowled over in Singapore

<p>More than 75 budding bowlers from the Singapore ad industry and </p><p>client field participated in the ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) Grand Slam Media </p><p>Bowling Competition 2000 held at the Cathay Bowl on January 14. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Jointly organised and sponsored by ESS and MEDIA, the competition saw </p><p>teams compete for individual, team and "special" prizes. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>All this while downing as much beer and food as humanly possible. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The result, a mix of ridiculously high scores, a low number of injuries </p><p>(mostly bruised egos) and four hours of non-stop fun! </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Taking top honours in the team category were Ericsson Consumer Products </p><p>Asia Pacific, narrowly beating Wunderman Cato Johnson and third-place </p><p>Euro RSCG. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>In the Individual category, Francis Chua of Ericsson clinched the top </p><p>spot, followed by Alvin Lee of WCJ and Kevin Santa Maria of </p><p>Newsweek. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>pecial awards were also given to Anthony Pounds (141) for the "Best" </p><p>Bowling Form, to the team from Time Warner for Best Group </p><p>Spirit-In-Action (thank you Foster's!), to Wati Baba from Newsweek </p><p>International for the Most Excitable Bowler (hmmm ...), while Luenne </p><p>Choa of Star TV and Gary Tang of Optimedia International were crowned </p><p>Gutter Queen and Gutter King, respectively. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The Singapore Grand Slam was the third in a series of ad trade fringe </p><p>events surrounding the ESPN Asian Bowling Tour '99. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Other markets included Hong Kong and Taiwan. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Watch out for more action in the 2000 season! </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
